KANdidates University Council
At KAN are always striving for more inclusive and sustainable solutions at UM - and we do so with great enthusiasm and vigor. From the demand for more study spaces, more cross-faculty contact to reflection weeks for everyone and a more diverse and contemporary curriculum, we are advocating for your wishes, ideas and interests. But housing and wellbeing are also very close to our hearts and been a focus of our work. Here at KAN we work collaboratively to find the best possible solutions for all of us, in every spectrum of student life.
Chiara Ring
Maastricht University is awesome, and I want to make it even better for us students! I’m Chiara Ring from Austria, and I know how overwhelming uni life can be. Finding opportunities shouldn’t be a challenge!
- I’m pushing for a student portal with clear overviews of associations, deadlines, events, and chat functions to improve accessibility.
- Cheaper Maastricht-Aachen Ticket – At least for Deutschlandticket holders and UM students.
- Better, budget-friendly food – A proper mensa with affordable, healthy meals is a must!
Let’s shape a university that helps us thrive. If you agree, vote for me—I’ll stand for us!
Demi Janssen
A university where you truly feel supported? That’s my goal!
Hi! I’m Demi, a third-year UCM student, committed to making UM a place where student wellbeing, inclusivity, and sustainability come first. Since starting my studies, I’ve worked to ensure student voices are heard, first on the KAN Party board and later on the University Council. Last year, I represented students nationally as chair of the Dutch National Student Association, working directly with the Ministry of Education. Now, I’m back in Maastricht, ready to make sure your voice is heard. Together, we can create a university where every student can thrive!

Lara Lohse
Hey everyone!!
My name is Lara, and I'm a current second-year European Studies student. As much as I love our degree and faculty, I’m also aware that it is not perfect! One of my main concerns is how separate a lot of the faculties feel. I hope to create a more UM wide community.
My main plan: be a voice for you! be a voice for the climate
