NovUM UC
NovUM is a progressive, international student list built on the belief that university representation should be as diverse as the student body itself.
Diverse perspective: We unite students across all faculties and languages to ensure "UM’s story" includes everyone.
Ready from day one: As the only list with returning University Council members, we skip the learning curve. We already know the files and procedures required to get results.
A collaborative council: We use our experience to mentor others and help good ideas succeed, regardless of which party they come from.
Central to local: We bridge the gap between central policy and your specific faculty, ensuring university decisions improve your daily student life.
We plant the trees for the future, but we make sure you feel the benefits today.
Matthieu Marienbach
- Human rights champion: a university that teaches human rights must practice them - swiftly, not eventually.
- Democracy in authoritarian times: UM must stand firm for democracy as the world grows darker.
- Quality of education: a continuous chain of accountability, from the President down to every program director.
- Greener Randwyck: from concrete wasteland to a green, visionary campus where students will thrive.
- Stronger student representation: professionalize Faculty Councils and EPCs with real resources, training, and compensation.
- Sustainability: not just an infrastructure question, but a core educational value every UM graduate takes into the world.
- One UM community: where Dutch and international students build real friendships and futures.
Roos Goorman
Hi! My name is Roos, 22, student in Public Health. Last year, I have worked in the University Council for a caring university, accessible food prices and equal recognition of all disciplines (sciences, as well as arts and humanities) at UM. This year we want to continue advocating for your voice!! We represent:
1. Your Wellbeing = Our Priority
2. AI Literacy for Students and Staff
3. Transparent and Inclusive Representation
Angela Chong
Hi, I'm Angela and I'm an extremely hardworking first-year Biomedical student and serial marathon runner. If YOU believe our university should work just as hard as we do for our education, vote for me and I'll make the higher-ups all sweat trying to improve OUR student life ;)
There are three things I believe we deserve as students:
Shorter Waiting Times & More Mental Health Support
Affordable Student Acommodation & Lower-cost, Healthier Food in Cafeterias
Clear Communication on what Happens with our Feedback & Greater Student Representation in University Governance
Students should thrive, not just survive
Rocío Megías Pellejero
Hey, I'm Rocío! Second-year international Brain Science student, passionate about education and activism. As chair of the FPN Student Council and EPC member, I want to expand my work across UM, bridging all faculties, by focusing on:
- Improve education’s quality: Better feedback structures, AI policies, career development and entrepeneurship opportunities.
- Wellbeing as our priority: Strengthen mental health and disability support systems. Social and sexual safety in and out of campus.
- Affordable and balanced student life: Housing support and fair-priced high-quality food. Expand art and sports opportunities.
- Inclusivity and human rights: Advocate for all minorities and against any injustices.
- Sustainability: Empower the Green Teams at UM.

Claudia Magis
Hi, I’m Claudia, a UCM student, and I’m running for the University Council with NovUM! I care about making UM more affordable, inclusive, and truly student-focused.
I want to:
- Push for a more affordable student life, from better food options to accessible housing and language courses
- Help create a safer and more inclusive university, where every student feels supported and heard
- Strengthen education and student representation, so feedback actually leads to visible improvements
I’ll work to ensure UM stands for its values while delivering real change for students!
Botond Moksony
Hi, I’m Botond, a 3rd-year Computer Science student at FSE, deeply involved in university life. After years at UM, I’ve identified challenges we must address together:
- Greener Randwyck and More Student Spaces: UM needs more social, collaborative, and green spaces to catch up to other Dutch universities, with extended opening hours that fit students’ schedules
- Affordable Student Life: Fairly priced cafeterias and better housing options are essential for every student
- Quality Education: Stronger feedback loops and training for committees to ensure excellence
- A Safer, Inclusive University: Everyone deserves to feel save and thrive here
Let’s build a better UM, together!

Maryam Hammam
I am Maryam, a first-year MSP student! I would really appreciate it if you would vote for me. These are my priorities:
1. Internationalization: Dutch courses up to and including B2 level must become more accessible, and more scholarships must become available for international students outside the EU. I want to establish a scholarship center! We should do better regarding human rights.
2. Affordability: Students must receive more support in finding affordable and livable housing.
3. Clear and comprehensive rules: Regulations regarding the use of AI must be concise, and students must be given fair opportunities to present evidence and appeal.
Daniël Klunder
Hey, I'm glad you're taking the time to vote and help improve our university! I'll be honest, I was definitely sweet talked into running for these elections. So I'll keep it simple: I am not here with big promises about revolutionizing UM. What you can expect from me is someone who focuses on fixing the small, everyday frustrations that actually affect your student life, because those are things that should already be better.
Marit Hansen
Hi, my name is Marit. I'm a 2nd year Circular Engineering student at FSE. I am running for University Council to represent all those who want more affordable and vegan food options, clear rules for using AI, support for finding housing, and better communication between different university departments.
Celma Crespi
Gaelle Chatelain
Hi everyone! My name is Gaelle and I am a third year ELS student. Furthermore, I am also this year's Vice-Chair of the Faculty Council which gives me quite a lot of experience in student representation and leadership. Here's why you should vote for me:
- Encourage Tutor-Student discussions by creating course specific feedback sessions
- Facilitate e-books access to make studying cheaper and more sustainable
- Create more ressources for mental-health support
