KAN Party FPN

We are the KAN Party. We are a coalition of student and local organizations uniting forces to make the strongest impact possible for climate justice. We are Maastricht for Climate, Precious Plastic Maastricht, Food Coop, Love Foundation and Fossil Free. As organisations and individuals, we have experience with initiating concrete change and want to continue having a positive impact on the world. We are students who want climate justice and a socially and environmentally committed university – we are students who want change.

The systemic changes we need and demand must happen at all levels. This also includes our university. UM has financial resources, expertise and influence and, we believe, UM has a responsibility to put all this to good use. Together, we want to guide UM toward positive change.

Hannah Finklenburg

Hannah Finklenburg

Hey, I’m Hannah, 21 years old and studying Psychology. I enjoy doing sports in nature, seeing friends, and being active with Maastricht for Climate: Right now focusing on Social Justice and Global Citizenship education.  Since we are students with different backgrounds and identities, FPN has a responsibility for inclusivity. Especially right now, a responsibility for our wellbeing. And for our future, a responsibility regarding the climate crisis.

We have already seen KANs actions at other faculties. Now, with joined forces, we need to push for our faculty fulfilling its responsibilities of sustainability, transparency, inclusivity and wellbeing. Let’s make change happen!

Hi everyone! I am Lilly, 20 years old, and just started studying psychology last September. As I was always involved in the student council of my school and my hometown, trying to make a change is not new to me. After a lot of work, we were able to provide affordable monthly tickets for students, thus making riding the Bus something everyone can afford.

Together with the KAN party, I would like to make steps towards climate justice, sustainability and inclusivity. I'd like to implement these topics into Uni-life to make real, noticeable improvements so let's start doing that together!

Frieda Derichsweiler

Frieda Derichsweiler

My name is Frieda and I am currently studying Psychology at FPN where I enjoy looking into the human psyche and our intriguing brain. I am most happy when I am around my friends, in forests, on my bike or on my roller skates. Since I came to Maastricht, I have been involved in the climate movement in this city. Working with the KAN Party is especially exciting because I can see change happening right in front of my eyes. Together with the KAN Party, I would like to push further for a sustainable, inclusive, transparent and socially responsible UM.
